Alcalá de Henares - Arrival
Arriving to your accommodations could never be easier with Escuela Internacional’s Airport Transfer Service. However if you are a more independent traveler, and would prefer to arrive on your own, we’ve prepared detailed instructions on how to arrive to your accommodations on your own. Regardless of how you choose to arrive, all students who register with Escuela Internacional receive a Student Manual that also includes the information you will find in this section.
Airport Transfer Service - Alcalá
This service is available from the Madrid airport.
If you request this optional service, an E.I. representative will be waiting for you outside of the Baggage Claim Area with a sign that says Escuela Internacional or that has your name written on it. From the airport you will be taken directly to your accommodations.
It is important to remember that if you have requested to live in a family, you should advise the family of your approximate time of arrival so that they know when to be at home waiting for you. If you have requested to live in one of our student apartments, then our representative will give you the keys to the apartment.
If you request this service please send us your flight details as soon as possible. We must receive your details at least 1 week before your arrival in order to arrange for your pick-up.
If on the day of your flight there are any last minute changes, if you miss a connecting flight or your flight is simply delayed please call our emergency number and inform us of these changes so that we can make new transfer arrangmentes for you. If for whatever reason you are unable to contact us before arriving to Spain, and after leaving the baggage claim area you do not see our representative waiting for you please call our emergency number.

By Taxi
Students can take a taxi straight from the airport to their accommodation in Alcalá de Henares. The journey takes about 20 minutes.

By Train
There is a metro stop connected to the airport located in terminal 2. Upon picking up your luggage you should follow the signs to terminal 2 and then follow the signs to the Metro. See the
Metro map. From the Barajas Metro station you want to go to Nuevos Ministerios Metro station. This is the last station in the direction of Madrid on the number 8, pink metro line.
When you arrive to the Nuevos Ministerios Metro Station follow the signs “Tren de Cercanias”. You will need to buy a ticket to Alcalá de Henares. Once you buy your ticket, find the platform for train C-1,C-2 and C-7. These 3 trains will take you to Alcalá. Trains C-1 and C-7 have their final destination in Alcalá de Henares. The C-2 train’s final destination is Guadalajara; Alcalá is a few stops before Guadalajara and should be announced on the trian.

When you arrive to Alcalá we suggest that you take a taxi to your accommodations. You will find a taxi stop directly in front of the Train Station or you can call a Taxi.

The total trip from the airport to the Alcalá train station should take you about 1 hour and 20 minutes.

By Bus
When you exit the baggage claim area you should follow the signs to the bus stop. At this point you can choose between 2 busses that will take you to the Canillejas bus stop where you can take a bus directly to Alcalá de Henares:
- Blue Bus #89 Plaza Colon/Aeropuerto - This is a special blue bus for passengers arriving to Spain with ample room for your luggage. When you get on the bus you should tell the driver “Quiero bajar en Canillejas, por favor”. Canillejas is the name of the bus stop that is located three stops from terminal 1.
- Red Bus #101 to Canillejas/Aeropuerto - This is one of the typical busses of Madrid. Although less expensive, you may not be permitted to get on to this bus if you have a lot of luggage. You can take this bus to the last stop, Canillejas, where the driver will ask you to get off.
- From the Canillejas bus stop you should cross the highway using the pedestrian bridge. Directly on the other side you will see a bus stop where you should wait for the number 223 bus to Alcalá de Henares. There is normaly one every 15 to 20 minutes. You can place your luggage beneath the bus and then get on. Tell the driver “Quiero ir a Alcalá de Henares”. Take this bus to the last stop.

From the Chamartín Train Station
If you will arrive at the Chanmartin Train Station, you should follow the signs “Tren De Cercanias”. You will need to buy a ticket to Alcalá de Henares. Once you buy your ticket, find the platform for train C-1,C-2 and C-7. These 3 trains will take you to Alcalá. Trains C-1 and C-7 have their final destination in Alcalá de Henares. From the Atocha Train Sation
If you will arrive at the Atocha Train Station you should follow the signs “Tren De Cercanias”. You will need to buy a ticket to Alcalá de Henares. From Madrid by Bus
Madrid is well connected to Alcalá de Henares through the Avenida de America bus station. A bus to Alcalá de Henares leaves from Avenida de America every 10 to 20 minutes. The bus that you want is the #223. If
you have luggage, you can place it beneath the bus and then get on. Tell the driver “Quiero ir a Alcalá de Henares”. Take this bus to the last stop.
